Kylie Jenner wants to make the first year of the Donald Trump presidency more pleasant for everyone. Jenner teased photos from a sexy calendar to her millions of followers on Snapchat and Instagram before releasing it for sale on December 10th.
Fans of the 19-year-old beauty mogul, reality TV star and model can treat themselves to twelve months of Kylie in sexy avant-garde poses and costumes. The calendar is for sale through her website: kyliejennershop.com.
The calendar’s cover entices with a photo of Kylie in black lingerie with a matching black crown. The photo celebrates Jenner’s “King Kylie” persona.
Shot by acclaimed (yet controversial) fashion photographer, Terry Richardson, famous for working with the likes of Kate Upton and Miley Cyrus, Jenner’s calendar features various themed costumes. For July, a flag bikini celebrates her patriotism. Staying warm in December will be easier with a scantily clad Kylie wearing a frosted wig while holding an oversized candy cane.
Between the mandatory photos celebrating the seasons, Kylie harnesses images from pop culture’s past. For January, she dons a python like Britney Spears from the 2001 MTV Video Music Awards. Kylie also borrows looks from Batman villains with saucy versions of Catwoman and a pig-tailed Harley Quinn.
Richardson has worked with a number of the Kardashian family including Kim, Khloe and Kanye. Kylie and Richardson first teamed up for Galore’s September 2015 issue. The racy photos of the then 18-year-old were published a month after she legally became an adult.
“My favourite look is the gold look from November,” Kylie says in a behind-the-scenes video available on her website. The high-cut gold swimsuit paired with gold sandals also features a gold “K” balloon. We learn that the calendar was first conceived one year ago. In the video Kylie proclaims,
“I’m really excited about this, it’s all my creative direction. I just wanted to make it fun and sexy.”
The calendar shows how Kylie is gaining more and more independence. We first met Kylie appearing on the hit reality TV show Keeping Up with the Kardashians. With her best-selling app and numerous business ventures expanding her brand, Kylie’s showing her desire to differentiate herself from the rest of her family. Kim, Khloe, Kourtney, Kendall and mom Kris haven’t slowed down, but Kylie shows how the rest of the Kardashian clan will have to keep up with her. Kylie was named Time Magazine’s most influential teens in 2014 and she’s currently one of the most followed personalities on Instagram.
Her empire is ever expanding. In the past few months, Kylie announced plans to open a store at Westfield Topanga Mall in Canoga Park, California. She also accumulated nearly 600,000 followers on Instagram in a two week span when she launched @kyliejennershop.
The shops and the calendar all build on the success of her modelling career and her line of cosmetics, Kylie Cosmetics. The line’s signature item, “The Kylie Lip Kit,” is constantly in high-demand. With her cosmetics, calendar and social media army, King Kylie is mobilizing to conquer 2017.
